God’s watchful eye is all-encompassing; He sees and knows all we do. His love for us never fails, and He always has our best interests at heart (Deuteronomy 7:9). As believers, we should take comfort in the fact that God watches over us every step of the way. God is watching you. Jesus Christ says, in the letter to the churches, “He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; he who is righteous, let him be righteous still; he who is holy, let him be holy still” (Revelation 22:11 New King James Version). We live in a world where we have to question everything and everyone, but sometimes it’s nice just to know that someone is looking out for us. That someone is watching over us. It’s not always easy to keep the faith when things go wrong or when life gets tough, but these bible verses are proof that God is really there for all of us. Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’ Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.”

In addition to providing for our physical needs, God also protects us spiritually. He guards our hearts by shielding us from lies and deceit (Proverbs 6:22–23). As Christians, this should be an encouragement to turn away from sin and pursue righteousness, knowing that God will never leave us nor forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6). He always has plans to keep us close by His side and will never allow anything to separate Him from us (Romans 8:38–39). God is your shade at your right hand – this refers to someone who stands with you to offer protection in the face of opposition. Pilgrims were fearful of sunstroke. Those who travelled on foot for many hours can become emotionally ill, and ancient writers called this moonstroke (some of us call it lunacy). The psalmist says God is our shade. God is our cover. We are not unprotected.Whilst we may want to deny it or not think about it, God has promised us protection from evil so we can rest peacefully knowing He will always be watching over us.
