About this deal

Those of you in the market for a thin power bank will be well served by the Crave Plus portable charger. I think they nailed the specifications of the USB ports, providing exactly the right combination of USB-C and USB-A, while also delivering PD and QC 3. Instead of including a single-serving microUSB port, I would’ve preferred that Crave included a second USB-C port to give users the option of charging up to three devices at once, and forgoing the need to carry around a special cable just for charging purposes. Recharging this 50,000mAh power capacity may sound like a long waiting task, but it’s much faster than you think. In this review, we’re going to take a look at something that slots somewhere in between all of those and was provided for review by Crave.

I have always done something similar in the past with a smaller 10,000 mAh battery to keep my cameras topped up, but with this battery, I felt confident enough in its capacity, that I also used it to keep my MacBook fully charged, as well as an assortment of other smaller devices. Meet Derek, “TechGuru,” a 34-year-old technology enthusiast with a deep passion for tech innovations. Usually, whenever I check into a hotel for work, I end up running extension cables to the one or two power outlets in the room and then setting up all my chargers on a table. You can also fast charge an iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone XS, and the iPhone 11 Max Pro with the PD port.It does not get too warm, but it is noticeable to the touch, and it’s to be expected because that’s a lot of power for a power bank to output. In addition to charging laptops, you can also charge your smartphone or tablet with the PowerPack 2. Unless you absolutely, positively need to fly with a power bank this size, you’ll want a smaller alternative. There are three ports on the bottom of the pack: a microUSB port for charging the pack, and then a USB-C port for charging the pack or other devices, and a standard USB port.

All in all, I can’t stress enough what a fantastic purchase this would be, even if it’s simply used for emergencies, though I don’t think anyone would judge you for keeping it charged just to make sure your phone doesn’t die as you binge a Netflix series in bed either! This unification to USB power makes travelling with my camera or mobile office gear much easier, and it also makes it that much easier to charge things in the field instead of having to carry enough batteries to get you back home or back to the hotel room. The packaging is on the simple side, with a tiny user manual and a USB-A to micro-USB cable in the box. Although my cameras, laptop and phone are USB-C, I have several USB-A battery chargers and always found it easy to get a useful combination of everything all charging at once. For example, if your smartphone has a 3000 mAh battery, and you have a 10000 mAh power bank, you should get approximately 3-4 full charges for your smartphone. This is the first Crave product that I have tested, and I always find it interesting to get that first impression of a new-to-me brand.
