About this deal

Just listen to it again and it's still as great as the first time it's not horror but it shows that Mr Herbert could turn his hand to all sorts of writing. Herbert can do short novels pretty well, as is evidenced most notably by The Rats, but this one was a bit of a failure, at least for me. Kevin Thomas of the Los Angeles Times opined, "Maybe if Fluke, which might have been better as an animated feature, weren't such a lavish, big-deal production and closer to the modest level of the recent — and pleasant little — pig movie Gordy, it wouldn't seem so overwhelmingly, at times even laughably, foolish.

Studded with scenes of humor and moments of revelation, this story will leave listeners ruminating on mortality and the afterlife. Carlei had come close to getting the film greenlit at Paramount Pictures for producer Fred Roos, but the departure of Sid Ganis as the studio's Head of Production derailed development. His first novel, The Rats, was an instant best-seller and is now recognised as a classic of popular contemporary fiction. Fluke, hiding in the backseat of Jeff's car, comes close to killing Jeff by causing him to get into a car accident like his own. The descriptions of the diminutive world as seen through the eyes of a mongrel and his tormenting memories rising from the depths of his consciousness are a delight to read. The book has been inscribed and signed by the author to the title page : ' To Philip, thank you for enjoying the book so much - It's appreciated, all best wishes, James Herbert. This is very different from James Herbert’s usual fiction—a fantasy rather than horror, and more touching, even funny. He is plagued by distant memories which will him to embark on a journey to discover the truth about himself. The shocking truth was very good, especially because the truth became apparent to Fluke near the place everything changed for him. In the first of the series they hear of the disappearance of a young wife and mother, who has vanished from her home, Chester Grange, leaving behind a room covered in blood.

Fluke was also released on VHS on November 5, 1996 by MGM/UA Family Entertainment in North America (which has been edited for family viewing and was also available exclusively through Warner Home Video). I understand why this was, yet I grew tired of reading the same information written in different ways. This amount includes seller specified domestic postage charges as well as applicable international postage, dispatch, and other fees.I gazed rapturously at the blue ceiling for several moments, until the rays of the sun made my eyes mist over, causing me to blink rapidly.

I soon got to grips with his views on the world though, so I began to quickly understand what Fluke was talking about. He was a stringy mongrel, wandering the streets of the city, driven by a ravenous hunger and hunting a quarry he could not define. In Japan, Fluke was released on VHS on July 5, 1996 by Warner Home Video under the MGM/UA Family Entertainment label (which was presented in the theatrical version).

The novel itself centres on Fluke, a mongrel who wanders the streets, driven by hunger and hunting a quarry he can not define. For the first half of the novel, the various adventures that Fluke finds himself within are both exciting and heart-warming, as well as enabling Herbert to really build upon the characterisation of Fluke. I read this book many years ago and gave it to a friend saying if you enjoy it pass it on to a friend of yours. Although there are some violent scenes in this book, such as a fight between Rumbo and a large rat, there are also many comical passages.

It’s not until later in the novel that he is able to discuss this aspect of his existence with a wise badger. If I spent most of the time reading your review wondering when Fluke was going to come across a bitch, that probably says more about me than about Herbert. Along the way he meets some colourful characters and gets into all sorts of mischievous doggy trouble! Events mean that Fluke has to leave the scrap-metal yard and the urge to find out about his previous life becomes overpowering so he tries to find the town where he used to live, however, he only has vague memories of his life as a human. Those books were best sellers because many readers (including me) were too horrified to put them down.
