I was not expecting a lot of things such as how beautifully Sierra Simone writes, the way she easily weaves words together just takes my breathe away. The characters and story of American Queen had me setting down my kindle because I was so mesmerized by them and I honestly didn’t want the book to end. I was very, very happy to find out that there would be two more books but I had such a hard time finishing because I did not want this book to end. Ever.

And that this was not the end that she really wanted. Maybe she wanted a more tragic ending. After I read the AFTERWORD, I realized that this was her attempt to correct things. And I totally support this! American King, book 3 is a rare glimpse into the enigma. Maxen, an orphan raised from poverty to serve and protect his country and become the most powerful man on earth. This book, ugh I don't know. It took a turn for the weird. Not really sure I care for the direction it went and how it all played out. Was there an HEA? yes I just don't know what to think.
