If you know you tend to brush with a lot of force, the iO5 could really help prevent you from doing unnecessary damage to the teeth and gums. I’m 40 and my parents never taught me how to brush my teeth or encouraged me to do so. My teeth are also very wonky so I clearly should have had braces as a teenager but was never given the option. As an oscillating and rotating brush, it does still feel different in use to a sonic toothbrush, it doesn’t feel as light and gentle as they often do. The iO5 is water resistant so can be rinsed under a tap The brush head is bigger than what you might be used to Both models offer most of the benefits of an electric toothbrush without having to pay ‘too’ much for them.

On the subject of cleaning modes, the Genius 9000 has an extra brushing mode known as ‘Tongue Cleaning’ mode. This is a cycle that lasts for 20 seconds with 7300 oscillations and 30,000 pulsations and designed for as the name suggests, cleaning the tongue. Both brushes come with thestandard ‘Daily Clean’ mode. They both then have a Sensitive mode. It is only the Pro 3 3000 that has the ‘Whitening’ mode.Colour or not, they operate in the same way and provide extra functionality. For example, you can change the handle language, change the colour of the smart ring or even reset the brush. This is shown within the app during the setup process of that journey. But it is not very obvious. You have to tap on a part of the screen to reveal more information. I believe that’s mostly right. When I read you, I should understand that the higher end model features these extra higher speeds as standard (=Daily cleaning). That is better than premium brushes like the iO9, which has very inconsistent usage times, despite a claimed 2+ week battery life. Yet, to my knowledge, all iO models have the same battery sealed inside the water resistant handle. The Genius 8000 launched as a cut-down, value version of the original Genius 9000 brush, and it still feels like a high-end toothbrush despite its price. It also gives an excellent clean, with a choice of six brush modes and three brush heads – CrossAction, 3D White and Sensitive – to cover a wide range of dental needs. Its Lithium-Ion battery still needs charging overnight but will last for over an hour of brushing from there on in, which should cover you for a couple of weeks.

The 3000 is available in a few different variants, meaning different handle colours and brush heads included. However, typically you will get just 1 brush head in the box.
